Alistair Fox and Brett Watson are entering the 2016 Avon Descent in the Power Boat Category. This is a first for them as they have previosuly done it in the double kayak category.
In September 2015 Alistair's Dad Robin passed away while waiting for a Lung Transplant. Robin was able to witness the boys finish last years race and was also eager to see how Power Boats went. The 2016 Avon Descent happens to also coincide with Donate Life Week.
So we have decided to dedicate our race to Robin and at the same time raise awareness for Donate Life and Transplant Australia. Our support crews will be wearing the pink Donate Life t-shirts to help raise awareness.
The Power Boat section of the Avon Descent is an expensive Sport and the boys would like to raise funds to help them enter. Their goal is to raise $1000 to cover the entry fee, parts, petrol and maintenance on the boat.
Every dollar they can raise over $1000 they will donate to Transplant Australia to help them raise the profile of organ donation in Australia. Transplant Australia WA support transplant recipients, and volunteer at public events such as expos and sausage sizzles, to encourage Australians to sign up to the Australian Organ Donor Register.
