Hi everyone. My name is Col Clifford and I am the author of "Tales of Toby the Truck Dispatcher."
Say "Hello" to Toby. He is the main character in the fifteen Tales that I so far have written.
Ever since I was a young child, trucks and machinery have been involved with my life in some way. The "Tales of Toby" reflect this involvement. They are stories reflective to people, highlighting the simplicity, yet importance of trucks to our lives. Some of the Tales are based on true events, others imagination, but all are interesting and inspire the creative mind.
The other ingredient in my live, has been education. "The Tales of Toby the Truck Dispatcher" show this influence. In each book, there is an element to challenge the reader about the story.
All of the trucks and machines shown in the photo are incorporated in a minimum of one story, many in multiple stories. I have designed and built them to have some moving parts and at the same time to be very robust.
Our aim is to put into the market the opportunity to purchase a Tale of Toby and the relevant truck to the story.
Each truck comes un-assembled so that Dad, Mum, Grandad, etc. can bond, with the child recieving the book and truck, in its construction.
At this stage 15 stories have been written, 14 trucks/machines designed, planned and constructed, two stories illustrated and a puzzle/colouring in book completed.
I wish to credit here to Pat Lazzarro who has been an avid supporter of Toby Tales since he was first introduced to the project. Pat illustrated the first Tale -"Leila the Logging Truck". His drawing and designs have set the benchmark for Tales of Toby. Pat's efforts allowed for the initial print to be done and has spurred us all on.
A percentage of any money raised over our target will be donated to a charity of Pats choice,"Veterans Off the Street Australia", a not for profit organization using all money raised to fund emergency accommadation for Veterans.
This is in recognization for his efforts with the first book.
Other members of the team include the following:
Two talented ladies of illustration - Alana and Jan
The young talented media producer
Harry from Woof Media
Lachlan Jennings and Rencia Stolle, designer and producer of our electronic media sources.
These people have worked to get Tales of Toby to a stage where it is now possible to produce a product. Thank you all.
The project involving Toby is seeking your support in raising $20.000.00 and to provide community input into the Tales.
Money raised will see its expenditure on items necessary for the production of "Tales of Toby the Truck Dispatcher." The following to be given priority:
a. The establishment of an illustration studio that would cover the work of Alana, Jan and Harry that is presently done in random places
b. The establishment of a workshop with the necessary tools for truck production. This will allow the setting out of already purchased equipment in a very efficient manner.
c. Fund to allow the publishing and promotion of Tales of Toby.
ANY FUNDING WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
At this stage, Tales of Toby have over sixty characters. We have the problem of developing into caricatures these characters. In the photograph below, Alana and Jan have taken a person and turned him in a character that could be used in the Tales of Toby.
We are offering the opportunity for anyone to have their name and face incorporated into the stories of Toby. My illustrators need some raw material for use. YOU could be one to be immortalised in "Tales of Toby the Truck Dispatcher."
Please review the rewards we are offering for your participation in the Tales of Toby. Any support offered will be greatly appreciated. All supporters will be contacted within two months of the finalization of the crowd funding to receive your reward or outline when you will receive your reward if your reward involves a later publishing date.
