Dear Family and Friends, This is Mohini and Atish raising funds for cancer treatment of our neice, Manisha - 24 years old.
Manisha has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, cancer of the lymphatic system. She is from a small town in Ba, Fiji Islands. After completing her university degree in Commerce, Manisha landed her dream job working for KPMG. After working there for one year, Manisha began to get very sick. The doctors in Fiji could not diagnose her for 18 months and in that period they put it down to numerous ailments such as anaemia and depression. The treatments did not work on Manisha and her situation continued to deteriorate which lead her to resign from the dream job.
Manisha urgently needs treatment for Lymphoma to have any chance of survival. The necessary treatment for this disease is not easily available in her native Fiji Islands. There is no Oncologist in Fiji and her family in Australia have engaged Westmead hospital for a treatment plan and costings. The Specialists at Westmead have advised that the costs will be in the vicinity of $150,000.
Manisha’s parents are vegetable farmers and cannot afford to pay for their beloved daughter’s overseas treatment. Currently she is not receiving any treatment in Fiji and is in terrible pain. Manisha’s parents have not been able to work because they need to provide full time care for their sick daughter. They have had their hands full with medical tests, doctors and travelling to Suva which is on the other side of the island. Manisha’s extended family in Australia are doing their best to raise funds and are reaching out to the public to help in arranging the treatment for her.
We felt we needed to start something to help alleviate any financial stress so they can focus on treatment and healing. The money donated will be used to pay for medical expenses in Australia.
Please keep Manisha in your thoughts and prayers and thank you for your support. “People will forget what you said. They will forget what you did. But they will never forget how you made them feel. – Maya Angelou”. Your thoughts, prayers and generous donations are sincerely appreciated.
